Ingredients
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
¾ cup warm milk
2 eggs
¼ cup butter, softened
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup flour (for cross paste)
5–6 tbsp water
2 tbsp sugar (for glaze)
2 tbsp water (for glaze)
Instructions
1. Mix flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
2. Add warm milk and eggs and mix to form a dough.
3. Knead the dough and gradually incorporate softened butter until smooth.
4. Fold chocolate chips into the dough.
5. Cover and allow the dough to rise until doubled in size.
6. Divide dough into 12 pieces and shape into buns.
7. Place buns on a baking tray and allow to rise again.
8. Mix flour and water to create a paste and pipe crosses on each bun.
9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
10. Heat sugar and water to make glaze and brush over warm buns.
Notes
Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
Ensure milk is warm but not hot to protect the yeast.
Allow the dough enough time to rise for soft fluffy buns.
Best served warm with butter or jam.
