Soft, buttery biscuits inspired by French toast, flavored with cinnamon, vanilla, and brown sugar — perfect for brunch.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder

¼ tsp baking soda

2 tbsp brown sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

⅛ tsp nutmeg

½ tsp salt

6 tbsp cold unsalted butter

¾ cup buttermilk

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

Powdered sugar or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare baking sheet.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

3. Cut in cold butter until mixture looks crumbly.

4. Whisk buttermilk, egg, and vanilla, then add to dry ingredients.

5. Fold dough gently, pat to 1-inch thickness, and cut biscuits.

6. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden.

7. Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar.

Notes

Keep ingredients cold for best texture.

Use milk + vinegar if you don’t have buttermilk.
