Description

German Pancakes are fluffy oven-baked pancakes with crispy edges and a soft custardy center. This easy breakfast recipe uses simple ingredients and is perfect for family brunch.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large eggs

1⅓ cups milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

8 tablespoons butter

Powdered sugar for topping

Fresh berries (optional)

Maple syrup (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish to melt.

2. In a blender or bowl mix eggs, milk, flour, salt, and vanilla until smooth.

3. Carefully remove the hot pan and swirl melted butter to coat the bottom.

4. Pour the batter into the hot buttered baking dish.

5. Bake for 15–25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.

6. Remove from oven and dust with powdered sugar.

7. Serve warm with berries, maple syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and milk for smoother batter.

Make sure the pan is hot before adding the batter for best rise.

Serve immediately after baking for the best texture.

Add berries, lemon juice, or cinnamon sugar for flavor variations.
