Description
A hearty, family-friendly casserole layered with ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and melted cheese — baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper, to taste
½ cup beef broth or water
1 tbsp olive oil
Optional: parsley or chives for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
4. Layer cooked beef in the baking dish. Arrange sliced potatoes on top.
5. Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes. Repeat layers if needed.
6. Pour broth around the edges. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
7. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are tender.
8. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley or chives.
Notes
Substitute ground beef with turkey or lentils for a lighter version.
Add extra vegetables like zucchini, carrots, or bell peppers.
Use mozzarella or vegan cheese for dietary preferences.
