Description
Spicy Bayou Deviled Eggs are a Cajun-inspired appetizer featuring creamy deviled egg filling coated in crispy Panko breadcrumbs and fried until golden.
Ingredients
12 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1½ tablespoons dill pickle relish
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1–1½ teaspoons Cajun seasoning
2–3 dashes hot sauce
1½ cups all-purpose flour
2 large eggs beaten
2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
2½ teaspoons gumbo file powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Boil eggs for 10–12 minutes then cool in ice water and peel
2. Slice eggs in half and remove yolks
3. Mash yolks with mayonnaise relish mustard Cajun seasoning and hot sauce
4. Fill egg whites with the creamy yolk mixture
5. Prepare breading station with flour beaten eggs and Panko breadcrumbs mixed with gumbo file powder
6. Coat eggs in flour dip in egg wash then roll in breadcrumbs
7. Heat oil to 350°F
8. Fry eggs 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crispy
9. Drain on paper towels and serve warm
Notes
For a lighter version replace mayonnaise with Greek yogurt
Reduce hot sauce for a milder flavor
Bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes instead of frying if preferred
Serve immediately for best crispy texture
